Thiago Alcantara: Liverpool Sign Midfielder From Bayern Munich for £20m

Liverpool FC confirms the signing of 29 years old midfielder, Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich for an initial fee of £20M. Thiago Alcantara, a Spanish International, who has won has won 39 caps for Spain will wear the No 6 Squad Shirt. The fee paid for the Spaniard includes add-ons that could eventually rise to £5M extra depending on individual and team performance factors.

Thiago Alcantara in his first Anfield career interview just this afternoon says; "It's an amazing feeling. I was waiting for this moment for a long time and I am very happy to be here," he said.

Thiago Alcantara with squad number six shirt at Anfield becomes the second Liverpool summer signing after Left-back, Kostas Tsimikas from Greece.

According to analysis, Thiago Alcantara who won two La Liga titles with Barcelona and seven Bundesliga Titles with Bayern Munich is a shrewd business as he is one of the best holding midfielders in the world and could possibly make an elite team.

He recently won the Champions League in August with Bayern Munich, and Thiago Alcantara, having finally signed for Liverpool FC, ends weeks of non-stop speculations and frustrations from some Anfield faithful about Liverpool FC, Premier League Champions 2019/2020, making a significant signing this summer.

"Absolutely great - I'm really happy that it finally worked out and we could just do it," said Liverpool hero manager Jurgen Klopp. He continued; "I know all the people at Bayern wanted to keep him desperately. That's normal and understandable because he played an important role, in the last season as well. He just was ready for a new challenge and he decided for us."

Jurgen Klopp continues: "When we spoke about all the players, he respects them all massively. He admires them. "We played against him when we played Munich in the Champions League two years ago [Liverpool won 3-1 in the second leg of their last-16 tie after a 0-0 draw at Anfield], so he knows what kind of machine we can be and he wanted to be part of that."

Speaking further in his first Liverpool career interview, Thiago Alcantara added: "I must adapt to the team as fast as I can in the situation and the context that we are living right now. Everything is more compact and we started a little bit later, but still, it is football and I think we have to mix all the big things up, all the good things we have. I will help the team in a defensive and offensive [way] and also in a mental aspect."

Indeed, Liverpool FC needs a holding Midfielder of his Calibre and as per the tight schedules for this season, it would make perfect sense to get more players in for a healthy rotation. Thiago Alcantara's arrival makes sure of that for a team that plays with so much energy.

Welcome to Liverpool FC, Thiago Alcantara!
